"Miss Millie" Southern Magnificent Millicent is now one of our Dewbury ladies. Born on March 20, 2023, she has passed all her health clearances with flying colors! Miss Millie boasts good hips, normal elbows, a clear heart (echocardiogram), clear eyes, and is clear on everything genetically except for Ichthyosis, of which she is a carrier. For that reason, we will only breed her to a clear male in our quest to eliminate this genetic trait from our beautiful Goldens. Millie will not be bred to our own studs, as she is too closely related to them, but we will work with other breeders to find a suitable mate for this special girl.
Millie became one of our Dewbury mammas because her kennel momma faced health problems severe enough to retire from breeding. We have known Millie since birth, as her daddy is our very own Mr. Canto, who is wonderful, so inviting her to become a Dewbury Mom was an easy decision.
Millie has worked at the LaVerkin Elementary School and at Hurricane Library in Hurricane as a Therapy Dog, where she adored snuggling with all the children. Millie is quite submissive to children and gets along well with all dogs, too. After all, she is a chip off the ol' block, with Rosie as her mother and Connor as her grandfather. This submissive and kind temperament is exactly what we breed for in our Golden Retriever puppies.
One funny thing about Millie is that she talks quite a bit, which is also a trait she gets from her grandfather, Connor.
Millie is within breed standard, weighing in at 63 lbs., with a lovely champagne-colored coat and stunning headpiece, just like her father. Millie resembles her father, Canto, with a broad headpiece, a perfectly wavy overcoat, and a very cream-colored undercoat. At only 2 years old, she still has plenty of playfulness in her but also exhibits that wonderful on/off switch that our Dewbury dogs are known for... she knows how to settle down beautifully as well.
Millie is living with me here at the Dewbury home, where she fits well into the family. She got along fabulously with her father Canto, uncle Eddie, and her grandfather Connor from the get-go... never a growl from anyone!
Millie has not had any puppies yet, but based on her sweet personality, we anticipate all of Millie's puppies will grow up to be as amazing as she is. The puppies will be raised by Britta using the Puppy Culture Method, with a focus on health scores for Golden Retrievers, socialization, desensitization, and daily training in our home, paving the way for the fourth generation of well-adjusted Dewbury puppies, ready to become service dogs or therapy animal dog puppies for loving families. A puppy deposit fee will be required for those interested in welcoming one of these special puppies into their homes.
